List of Gmat preparation Books
I'll start with a sincerity note. Always, remembers the best of GMAT books would mean nothing, if you do not follow a regular plan and discipline.
The GMAT test format has changed and you would need newer edition of books to prepare for the test. I'll talk about the list of books which give you an insight into what to expect with the new pattern. Before that, I also want to share a fact where most people fail in scoring well in GMAT. The problem is that students keep many books, but do not solve any book entirely. I would say, all the books I'll be listing below are really good. But, you need to choose one of them at the beginning and solve it completely to help you. Then, later, you can choose to solve the others.
1. The Official Guide for GMAT Review :
The Official Guide for GMAT Review 2016 goes past all it's previous editions and proves itself to be a boon for students choosing it. This book can single handedly take you to your highest scores if you solve it religiously. Popularly, it's called GMAT Test Prep Bible and for obvious reasons. I would repeat, if you want any book to help you, finish it. Don't stop, until you finish.
2. Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides :
Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides comprises of eight basic books and is essentially for beginners who want to lay a firm foundation to their concepts. If you're planning to give the test next year, you can start with this comprehensive book to build you basics and then, can switch to an advanced book.
3. KAPLAN GMAT 800 : Advanced Prep For Advanced Students :
If you begin with GMAT Strategy Guides, then switch to Official Guide for GMAT, this one will give you a perfect end. Kaplan raises the bar of the questions included with this one. This is the most advanced material on GMAT and if you're able to solve it smoothly, it will boost your confidence to a great extent. They say, however prepared you're, you should be mentally fit to face GMAT, on the day. Because, it's that day that counts. And many have fallen victim to the day, even when they were well prepared.
So, I would end the article from where I started, that is, always finish what you've started. A major reason for students all across the world is because they don't finish what they start. Do a chapter! Just make sure you finish it. You know in and out, everything about that particular topic and continue to do this with all other chapters.
